Travel Advisory Quarantine Info
New York State has issued a travel advisory for anyone returning to New York from non-contiguous* states. Travelers must undertake a precautionary quarantine upon entering New York for 10 days. Travelers may “test-out” with two negative tests as outlined below. All travelers, whether completing the full quarantine or testing out, will be required by New York State to complete the Traveler Health Form upon arrival in New York regardless of the mode of travel to campus.
For any travelers to New York State from a non-contiguous state, U.S. territory, or CDC level 2 and higher country, the new guidelines for travelers to test-out of the mandatory 10-day quarantine are below:
- Travelers must obtain a negative test within three days of departure, prior to arrival in New York.
- Upon arrival in New York, travelers must quarantine for three days.
- On day four of their quarantine, the traveler must obtain another COVID test. If both tests come back negative, the traveler may exit quarantine early upon receipt of the second negative diagnostic test as long as the traveler has no COVID-19 symptoms.
The College will offer testing for students under the travel advisory to complete a second test on campus on the following dates beginning at 9 a.m. in Smith Hall. Sign-up for an appointment here. Students will be assigned a 15-minute time slot between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. on their selected test date. Students are welcome to obtain their own second test off-campus.

For the duration of the precautionary quarantine, or until two negative tests are received, students should remain in their residence hall room. Meals will be delivered daily between 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. to the building lobby for pick-up. After students pick up their meal, they are required to return to their rooms for quarantine. Students may utilize the common bathroom closest to their room and the laundry room following all protocols. Students may not visit other rooms in the building, other campus buildings, or leave campus during their quarantine period. Student Activities along with the SGA will sponsor a variety of virtual programming and events during this period.
You will need to meet the precautionary quarantine requirements before being permitted to resume in-person campus obligations. In order to complete the testing or quarantine prior to the first day of classes, all students must be in New York or a contiguous state no later than January 29, 2021. Please note: If you have been living on campus during the Winter Intersession, we ask that you complete a test between January 18 – February 7 with the expectation that you adhere to all protocols and safety guidelines during the time between testing and returning to full activity on campus. The College will be offering testing on campus as indicated above and invites you to schedule an appointment here.
