Facilities: There are five residence halls at the Mount—with a sixth under construction—offering resident students in-room wireless access, lounges, kitchens, and study areas. Facilities on-campus also include state-of-the art science and nursing labs, a student activities center, black box theater, professional dance studios, a TV production studio and post-production lab, a radio station, art studios and digital media labs, sports medicine suites, athletic field and gyms, a library, and Hudson Heights, our newest dining hall featuring indoor and outdoor seating.

Athletics: The Mount offers 15 varsity sports for men and women through the NCAA Division III Skyline Conference.

Athletic Facilities: On-campus facilities include an NCAA regulation athletic field overlooking the Hudson River, a performance gym and auxiliary gym, dance studios and wrestling rooms, sports medicine suites, and a 7,500-square-foot fitness center housed in the Peter Jay Sharp Athletic and Recreation Center.

Accreditation: The College of Mount Saint Vincent is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Did You Know?

The College of Mount Saint Vincent is among the five oldest colleges in New York City.

The College motto is “Teach me goodness and discipline and knowledge.” (Psalm 118)

Many motion picture and television productions have been filmed at the Mount, including the 2008 film Doubt, starring Meryl Streep, Amy Adams, Viola Davis, and Philip Seymour Hoffman, and episodes of Law & Order, The Sinner, and The Blacklist.

Fonthill Castle has served as a convent, chapel, museum, chaplain’s residence, and library. Built in 1852 as the country estate of Shakespearean actor Edwin Forrest, the Castle and three other campus buildings in use today are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

In 2017, CMSV was recognized by the Office of the Mayor in the 2017 NYC Volunteers Count report for its 1,020 volunteers. The report highlights the number of students attending the City’s colleges and universities who volunteered in 2017. Of the 48 colleges and universities throughout NYC, the College ranked in the top five for most student volunteers.

Corazon C. Aquino, who led the 1986 People Power Revolution that restored democracy to the Philippines, was the first female President of the Philippines and first female president in Asia. She was a graduate of the Mount. Read more about our exceptional alumnae/i.
