Studying Accounting, Business, and Economics

The Department of Accounting, Business, and Economics is a student-centered learning community dedicated to preparing undergraduate and graduate students for employment or advanced study in economics or business. The department engages students in active learning and facilitates their development of analytical, critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills. Department faculty are active scholars, focused on teaching and engaged in service to the College and to the broader community.

Business students qualify for an array of leadership positions and other advanced roles in private, public, and nonprofit organizations. Graduates have the option to work across industries as business analysts, human resources generalists, operations managers, or marketing specialists. Business administration graduates are well positioned to venture into entrepreneurship.

Due to the proximity of our campus to New York City, Mount internships provide students with the opportunity to apprentice at top business corporations and organizations in a thriving, dynamic business capital. Students also benefit from the support of a loyal group of Mount alumnae/i who are in leadership positions in Fortune 500 companies.

The Mount’s business programs are fully accredited by the State of New York and the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), an authority recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for the national accreditation of business schools. The College has been awarded accreditation as an institution which focuses especially on excellence in teaching.
