B.S. in Psychology

Degree Requirements

The B.S. in Psychology degree is recommended for students who intend to prepare for medical school or research related graduate study. Students complete courses in a variety of areas of Psychology with an emphasis on research.

Psychology Major 36 credits
Major Foundational Courses 12 credits 
PSYC 103 Introduction to Psychology I (3 credits)
PSYC 104 Introduction to Psychology II (3 credits)
PSYC 205 Psychological Statistics (3 credits)
PSYC 315 Research Methods I (3 credits)
PSYC 405 Advanced Research Methods (3 credits)
PSYC 450 Capstone Seminar (3 credits)
Six courses which meet the following criteria:
a) Four courses are selected from 4 different major content areas
b) All courses must be at the 300 level or above
c) At least two course must be at the 400 level
(This requirement cannot be fulfilled with PSYC 475 )

Cognate Requirements 8 credits
BIOL 111-112 (General Biology I and II) with lab (BIOL 111L and 112L), or
BIOL 109-110 (Anatomy and Physiology I and II) with lab (BIOL 109L and 110L)
