Centennial Society Mass and Luncheon 2018
On May 4, more than 30 alumnae, spouses, and friends attended a Centennial Society mass and luncheon for planned giving donors and members of the Class of 1959 and earlier classes. Fr. Ron Pecci, one of four Franciscan priests living on campus for the past year, gave the homily. During the luncheon, President Charles L. Flynn, Jr. spoke about the College’s new programs and initiatives, including the Mott Street Scholarship Program, which enables students who have persevered through homelessness or foster care to attend the Mount.

Jonathan Ramirez ’18 gave a moving speech about how a Mount scholarship enabled him to become the first in his family to attend college. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to pursue his academic and career interests, including film directing. He spoke about the friendships he made through the Office of Campus Ministry and how spearheading a service project for the homeless in Manhattan’s Grand Central Station allowed him to develop leadership skills.
