Adjunct Instructor, CMSV VIP Program for Young Adults with Disabilities (Multiple Positions)

The College of Mount Saint Vincent is an academically excellent, authentically inclusive, Catholic and ecumenical liberal arts college with approximately 1,500 undergraduate students and 300 graduate students, located in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, New York City. Job Description
The CMSV – VIP Program (CMSV – Vocational Independence Program) provides opportunities for young adults with developmental disabilities to develop and use skills that will enable them to seek employment and adult living opportunities in their communities.  At the College of Mount Saint Vincent VIP is expanded to embrace not only Vocational preparation but also campus and community Inclusion, and opportunities for Participation in campus life for each and every student.  Reporting to the CMSV Associate Director for Academics and Educational Programming, the Adjunct Instructor develops and teaches non-credit coursework designed for the CMSV-VIP students.

The position reports to the Associate Director for Academic and Educational Programming, CMSV-VIP.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Locate or design coursework based on student need and interest
  • Teach courses designed specifically for VIP students each semester (online if required)
  • Work with VIP students to develop study skills and personal advocacy skills
  • Participate in PBIS trainings and VIP staff meetings as needed

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Special Education or related field, NYS Teacher Certification preferred
  • Online teaching experience preferred
  • 3+ years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and their families
  • Knowledge and experience in designing coursework, measuring student learning, and program evaluation
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of positive support methods for behavior and instruction
