10.6 Course Syllabus and Presentation

In accordance with College regulations, the faculty member prepares and is expected to follow a clearly organized course syllabus to correspond to the catalogue description of the course. Consistent with State regulation, the syllabus must include the particulars of major reading assignments. Copies of course syllabi are filed each semester with the Department Chair and the Provost/Dean of Faculty during the first week of each semester.

During the first class session, with the distribution of the course syllabus, faculty members should specify to students their significant mutual responsibilities, including: the objectives of the course and how they are to be realized, the importance of attendance in achieving the objectives, testing and grading procedures, research assignments, and the basis on which the final grade is determined.
