Coordinator of Student Activities
The College of Mount Saint Vincent is an academically excellent, authentically inclusive, Catholic and ecumenical liberal arts college with approximately 1,500 undergraduate students and 300 graduate students, located in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, New York City. Job Description
The Office of Student Activities, Leadership, and Commuter Life manages the Alumnae Pavilion Student Center, plans/implements campus wide programs, oversees the Orientation program, advises and mentors student groups/leaders, coordinates the functioning of all student clubs/organizations and provides programs and services for commuter students. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Student Activities, Leadership and Commuter Life, the Coordinator of Student Activities position is a full time; live in position with night and weekend hours required.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Assistant Director of Student Activities to create and implement campus wide co-curricular programming
- Assist with the advising and programming initiatives, while serving as a liaison to approximately 15-20 student clubs
- Advise the freshman and junior classes (within the Student Government) in class programming and governance
- Advise and mentor the Campus Activities Board (CAB)) in traditional campus wide programming, leadership and events
- Manage all areas of Commuter Life, including the supervision of the Commuter Assistant staff
- Assist with the creation and implementation of leadership retreats and workshops; including Leadership Weekend and DREAM Weekend
- Monitor assessment for departmental programming and create new assessment initiatives and efforts for student club programming
- Oversee and manage the theory based Phin-LEADS Leadership Development Series for campus wide emerging student leaders
- Provide support with the New Student Orientation program
- Serve on campus wide committees, including but not limited to Homecoming, Christmas at the Mount, and Founders Day
- Work with the Campus Events office in reserving rooms for all student club programs
- Attend weekly staff meetings, one-on-one meetings and in-service training sessions
- Assist in the supervision of the Alumnae Pavilion Student Assistant staff
- Participate in the on call duty rotation
- Assume other responsibilities assigned by the Assistant Director of Student Activities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Master’s degree preferred
- Experience in leadership position(s) in student activities/campus life and experience in campus programming, with commuter students, and/or with orientation is highly desirable
- A strong understanding of student activities required
- Ability to work as a flexible and supportive team member in a diverse environment
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and Photoshop
