2.1 Employee Orientation
As part of a new employee’s introduction to the life of the College, an orientation program is provided for all newly hired faculty, administrators and staff personnel. The direct supervisor conducts an on-the-job orientation, which typically includes a tour of the department, a discussion of job duties and responsibilities, and general information on provisional periods, hours of work, etc. As a second step in the orientation of new employees, a briefing is held at the Human Resources Department, during which general information on College policies and benefit programs are provided and new employees have the opportunity to enroll in the various benefit plans. At this time, you will be required to present the College with information establishing your identity and your eligibility to work in the United States in accordance with applicable federal law. In addition, a centralized formal orientation session is held each September for all newly hired faculty, administrators and staff. The purpose of this session is to introduce new employees to each other, and to the history, traditions, governance and future direction of the College.
